Student attendance at Piara Waters Senior High School is a high priority. There is proven correlation between attendance and achievement – research demonstrates that students who attend regularly are more likely to be successful and safe at school. Absences from school also makes it difficult for:
• Students to form and maintain strong positive relationships with their teachers and peers.
• Teachers to re-teach information and skills, meaning students miss out on essential learning content.
Under the School Education Act 1999, Piara Waters Senior High School is required to maintain attendance records for all students for every session each day. This means the school will contact parents/caregivers about any unexplained absences for their child.
Parents/caregivers are requested to contact the school in advance if they know their child is going to be absent or late.
• Enter an Attendance Note in Compass
• Complete the absence notification form (left)
• SMS the school absentee line on 0456 626 714
• Contact Student Wellbeing on 6174 2777 or via email at
Piara Waters Senior High School respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we teach, learn and study – the Whadjuk Noongar people. As a school, we recognise the contributions of Aboriginal Australians and non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of the children and people in this country we all live in and share together - Australia.
