Piara Waters Senior High School is an Independent Public School. Since being awarded Independent Public School status in its planning year, the school has been afforded with the flexibility and decision-making authority that is necessary to drive positive student outcomes.
A key element of being an Independent Public School is to convene a School Board. The role of a School Board is legislated by the School Education Act 1999 and School Education Regulations 2000.
The Piara Waters Senior High School Board was established in 2023. School Board members support the school by bringing ideas and lending their expertise to strategic planning and community partnerships. Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the establishment of the schools’ key objectives and priorities through the school Business Plan.
• Noting the financial requirements to fund school objectives, priorities and directions.
• Evaluating the schools’ performance in achieving its objectives and priorities.
• Reviewing and approving the contributions and charges for subjects and courses of study.
• Promoting the school's image within the wider community.
Piara Waters Senior High School respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we teach, learn and study – the Whadjuk Noongar people. As a school, we recognise the contributions of Aboriginal Australians and non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of the children and people in this country we all live in and share together - Australia.
